Inside the factory

Quality control in four stages
- Incoming materials — uppers, linings, soles and trims are checked against the approved sample for color, thickness, strength and defects before cutting.
- In-process patrols — QC inspectors walk the cutting, stitching, lasting and bonding lines throughout production, catching issues while they can still be fixed.
- 100% finished inspection — every pair is checked for stitching, bonding, symmetry, sizing, cleanliness and finish.
- Pre-shipment AQL inspection — cartons are sampled to AQL standards before packing out. Your own or a third-party inspector is welcome.

From brief to shipment
Brief → Sample in 10 days to 1 month → Revisions until approved → Third-party testing (if required) → Bulk production scheduled to your launch date → Four-stage QC → Custom-packed and shipped. In-stock styles ship within 2 days.

Projects we have made
Case study: soft-sole baby shoes for an Australian baby brand
*By testing three sole options side by side and proposing a high-rebound foam upgrade, Qihang helped an Australian baby brand launch a softer, lighter first-walker shoe — and the brand came back to extend the range.*
The client. An Australian baby and toddler brand selling through its own online store and specialty baby boutiques. They wanted to add a private label first-walker shoe to their range, under their own name.
The challenge. For parents of babies taking their first steps, two things matter more than anything: the shoe must be soft enough to let little feet bend naturally, and light enough that a baby barely notices it. The brand had tried samples elsewhere that looked right but felt stiff in the hand. They needed a factory that would put comfort first, on a launch deadline.
What we did.
- Brief and first sample. The brand sent reference photos and their size range. Within about two weeks our development team delivered the first samples in the brand's colors, with their logo on the insole.
- Side-by-side sole testing. Instead of guessing, we built the same upper on three different soles — natural rubber, TPR and lightweight EVA — and compared them on weight per pair, toe-to-heel flexibility, grip and durability. EVA is the lightest but grips less; TPR is economical but stiffer; a thin, flexible rubber sole gave the best balance of softness, grip and wear for early walkers.
- Our own improvement idea. Comfort is more than the sole, so we proposed adding high-rebound foam to the insole and the shoe collar and lining. Little feet sink in softly and the cushioning springs back step after step.
- Decision and fine-tuning. The brand adopted both the flexible rubber sole and the high-rebound foam. We fine-tuned the sole thickness and flex grooves on a second sample until the shoe folded easily in the hand, then confirmed the final specification for bulk.
- Production and QC. Our dedicated QC team checked incoming soles and leathers, patrolled stitching and bonding on the line, inspected every finished pair and ran a pre-shipment AQL inspection.
- Branded packing and shipping. Each pair went into the brand's custom shoebox with their hangtag and barcode, ready for their online store and boutiques.
The result. The brand launched on schedule. Parents responded to how soft, light and cushioned the shoes felt, and the brand reordered and added new colors for the following season.
Case study: consistent sizing and reliable delivery for a European kids' shoe importer
*For a European kids' shoe importer, Qihang turned size consistency and on-time delivery into a repeatable process — and a supplier relationship that runs season after season.*
The client. A European children's footwear importer and wholesaler supplying independent shoe stores and regional retail chains with kids' casual shoes and everyday sneakers.
The challenge. For an importer, one bad batch can cost a whole season: if sizes run inconsistently, retailers get returns; if soles lift or finishing is poor, the importer's name suffers; if delivery is late, the selling window is gone. The client was looking for solid workmanship, consistent sizing and dependable bulk delivery — not just a nice sample.
What we did.
- Size chart and last confirmation. We matched our lasts to the client's EU size chart (sizes 24–35), measuring foot length and width for every size, and confirmed the grading before anything was cut.
- Pre-production samples. We made a full size set of pre-production samples for approval, and locked the materials, colors and construction into a written production specification.
- Inline inspection. During production our QC inspectors patrolled the line, checking upper stitching, sole bonding strength and finish at each stage.
- Pre-shipment AQL inspection. Every pair was checked before packing, and finished cartons were sampled to AQL standards, with a report sent to the client before shipment.
- Compliance support. We supplied materials information for every component and arranged REACH testing with SGS for the client's styles.
- On-time delivery. Production was scheduled back from the client's season date, and the goods shipped on time.
The result. Consistent sizing across the full run, clean bonding and finishing, and documents in hand before arrival. The client now reorders every season and has added new styles.
